Announcing Pensamientos

An online repository of opinions, analyses and thoughts engaging with AfroLatinidad

Written works by AfroLatines and about AfroLatinidad cultivate shared and unique perspectives into the manifold lived experiences of AfroLatines. As some have noted, ‘there isn't just one AfroLatinidad, there are many AfroLatinidades.’ Learning from the ponderings of AfroLatines in the US and of folks with lineages across the Americas allows us to gain a deeper understanding of the Diaspora.

In order to contribute to the legacy of profound writing on AfroLatinidad, disseminate experiential knowledge, and to engender dialogue; the afrolatin@ forum is sponsoring written contributions in the form of essays, blog posts, or op-ed pieces that will continue to unearth an understanding of Blackness, AfroLatinidad y la Diáspora.

These written pieces will be part of what we are calling Pensamientos, an online repository of opinions, analyses and thoughts engaging with AfroLatinidad. Pensamientos will feature pieces from diverse perspectives as an additional source of material for those seeking insight and connection. Ranging from ~500-1500 words, the submissions can be creative pieces, intellectual reflections, thoughts and analyses or more traditional academic writing that engage with the lived experiences of AfroLatines. Writers can submit formerly “published” work and will retain all rights to their submissions.

These Pensamientos will bring to fruition the forum’s vision of a world in which, “Black Latinidad is affirmed, and the contributions of the African Diaspora are embraced as central within Latinidad.”

If you want to submit something to Pensamientos or need more information or regarding the details of submissions, visit the Pensamientos page on the forum’s website www.afrolatinoforum.org/pensamientos or send an email to pensamientos@afrolatinoforum.org.
